Brilley Parish Council serves the civil parish of Brilley. The parish is in the north-west of Herefordshire, bordering Wales and the Herefordshire parish councils of Huntingdon, Kington Group, Eardisley Group and Clifford.

The parish council meets on alternate months. Meetings are held in Brilley Village Hall - public and press are welcome to attend.

Rubbish collections following snow delays

All rubbish & recycling collections are being carried out as normal today, Monday March 5. However, due to snowy and icy conditions in some areas and streets collections may not be possible. If your collection is not take place today please leave it out and we will try to return before the end of the week.

If you did not have your household collection on Thursday March 1 or Friday March 2, please take your waste back in and place out on your next scheduled collection for that waste in 2 weeks time. If your rubbish was not collected we will take additional rubbish up to a maximum of 4 black sacks. If your recycling was not collected and you have extra please use clear or transparent sacks and label ‘RECYCLING.’ Please do not use black sacks for your recycling. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Trade waste – collections are taking place as normal today. Please try and ensure access to your bin/s is snow/ice free to increase the possibility of collection taking place.

A Warning has been issued for the following regions

 - South West England (Amber)  - Wales (Amber)  - London & South East England (Amber)

 - West Midlands (Amber)

 A spell of heavy snow is expected to move north across Southwest England and Wales through Thursday afternoon and evening. Some places could also see significant ice build up overnight into Friday. The snow is likely to be accompanied by strong easterly winds. 

Long delays and cancellations to public transport is expected, whilst some roads may become blocked by deep snow, stranding vehicles and passengers. Long interruptions to power supplies and other utilities are likely to occur.

New parish councillor needed

COULD YOU BE A PARISH COUNCILLOR?

Brilley Parish Council needs to co-opt a new Councillor at the meeting on 16 January 2018.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email the Parish Clerk on brilleypc@gmail.com or phone 07789 322771.

You will be asked to speak for 2 mins on what you can offer the Council and the parish as a councillor.

To be able to stand as a councillor:

  • you have to bea qualifying Commonwealth citizen (a UK citizen by birth or naturalisation or a Commonwealth citizen) or a citizen of Republic of Ireland or a relevant citizen of European Union

  • and aged at least 18 years old

  • and on the electoral register for the parish

  • or have for the preceding 12 months occupied as owner or tenant land/other premises in the parish or your principal/only place of work has been in parish for last 12 months or you have been resident in the parish for the last 12 months or for the whole of the preceding 12 months you have lived within 3 miles of the parish.

Vacancy for a parish councillor

The Notice of Vacancy for a new parish councillor is published here.

Notice of Vacancy

If 10 electors call for a election, the parish council must have an election and cannot co-opt anyone onto the council. The cost of the election would either be solely paid by Brilley, or it would be shared if other elections were held on the same day.

If an election is NOT called for, the parish council can co-opt a new councillor, without cost.

Please follow the instructions on the form, if you and 9 other electors wish to call for an election.

Closure of C1072 by Brilley Court

The A4103 Hereford to Worcester road is now reopened.

The A49 at Newtown Bridge in Hereford is now reopened.

A438 Kings Acre Road

A438 KINGS ACRE ROAD, BETWEEN HUNTINGTON LANE AND A480 JUNCTION

Tuesday, 14 November 2017 to (and including) Friday, 17 November 2017

Night time road works between 18.00 hours and 01.00 hours each evening

Convoy traffic management will be in operation whilst these works take place during the above mentioned times

Please note that the road will NOT be closed

However, for a short duration only, the actual A480 junction with Kings Acre Road will be closed  whilst the resurfacing materials are being laid, so please follow the diversion route – this will only affect some time on the last night of works (Friday) and then the road will remain open and pick up the convoy traffic management on the A438.

Please refer to the attached plan showing the approximate location of this work.  The diversion route is only for the short duration when the resurfacing takes place at the A480 junction on the Friday evening.
